Junior Angler Education Clinic

A must-do for all Junior Anglers!

The Junior Angler Education Clinic was first launched by Palmerston Game Fishing Club in 2004. Each year it aims to give 100 juniors between the ages of 8 – 15, an introduction to the sport and recreational activity that is angling!

In previous years the clinic introduced the children to the skills and knowledge of, tying knots, casting and retrieving lures, throwing a cast net and how to catch a fish.  In 2011 this was taken a step further by introducing a trip to a Humpty Doo Barra Farm at Adelaide River. At the barra Farm the kids were given first hand opportunity to put their skills to the test and catch a Barra.  There are not many kids who do not come home with a beaming smile from their catch.

Over the years valuable partners who have provided expert knowledge and assistance have included Dept. Primary Industry and Resources, Parks and Wildlife, Marine Safety, water safety, Charles Darwin University, Police Fire and Emergency Services and many others.

Registrations for the clinic usually occur around late May/ June each year.  Such is the popularity of the event all 100 places available are usually taken up within a few hrs of them being released.
